Happy New Year! Last year was AWESOME and I can’t wait to see what 2018 will bring. – Lots of international travel I hope!
Something else to look forward to is the incredible variety of fruits and vegetables in season in January. This week, raspberries cost $2.50 for a punnet (125g), yay! Don’t laugh at us, all you North Americans, yes that is cheap if you live in Sydney, where raspberries usually cost $8 for most of the year.
This month we farewell papayas, paw paws, red and white currants. Never fear! We can now enjoy rambutans, avocados, williams pears, paradise pears, plums and limes.
Nothing too exciting is happening on the vegetable front. This month we say goodbye to watercress, but okra and potatoes are now in season. Mmm, potatoes, they make this Russian girl very happy indeed.
Wishing you all a wonderful 2018 and as always… Happy eating!
