October has snuck up on me yet again. Today I picked the first peas of the season straight from my garden. Nothing beats fresh juicy peas picked straight from the plant! Seriously, you would never hear anyone raving about the peas from their freezer, but homegrown peas…well they are in a league of their own!
I am also excited by the new fruits and vegetables that are coming into season!
This month we say goodbye to some of my favourite fruits including apples and lemons. The good news is that mangoes are back in season! My favourite season has to be mango season. I will never understand those people who don’t like mangoes, how can anyone not like mangoes?! Other fruits that taste their best in October include blueberries, bananas, valencia oranges, avocados, passionfruits and melons.
Broccoli and carrots are coming to an end. Vegetables that are now coming into season include zucchinis, cucumbers and watercress.
What’s growing in your garden this month?
